Safety & Warnings

  • Safe candle burning

The following safety rules MUST be followed when burning candles:
    • Do not place candles near flammable objects.
    • Do not leave a burning candle unattended. Before leaving the room, put out the candles and make sure that the candle does not smoke.
    • Keep candles out of the reach of children and animals.
    • Burn candles in a ventilated room without drafts. This prevents uneven burning, soot or wax dripping. Drafts are dangerous because they can blow away the flame spark and start a fire.
    • Burn candles on a stable, heat-resistant surface.
    • Do not throw burnt wick, matches, etc. into the melting wax.
    • Do not burn candles near objects that can catch fire: curtains, carpet, books and other objects. Keep burning candles away from moving people, because clothes or hair can catch fire if carelessly bent or blown by the wind.
    • Do not touch or carry a burning candle.
    • Do not allow the flame to reach the edges of the container - it may burst. Do not burn a candle in a cracked or otherwise damaged container.
    • When burning more than one candle, leave a space of at least 10 cm between the two candles. Due to the heat from the flame of one candle, a jet of rising air may form and the adjacent candle will burn unevenly, the walls of the other candle may begin to melt.
    • It is best to extinguish candles not by blowing them out, but with a special hood, as the wax may spill out when blown.

Proper burning of pillar soy wax candles

    • If necessary, remove decorative parts from the candle.
    • Before lighting the candle, cut the wick to 1.5 cm
    • The flame of the candle should not be larger than 1-1.5 cm. When the wick is too long or tilted, the burn is uneven and the wax flows. If the flame "grew" too big due to a too long wick, shorten the candle wick with scissors.
    • If a "cap" has formed on the tip of the wick, cut it off. This is a natural phenomenon in soy wax candles.
    • When lighting the candle for the first time, allow the "pool" of melting wax to reach the walls of the jar to avoid "tunneling".
    • If you notice that the flame goes more to one side after extinguishing the candle, but before the wax has solidified, use something to tilt the candle in the opposite direction.
    • It is not recommended to burn the candle for more than 4 hours. It is better to extinguish the candle, let it cool down and shorten the wick again before lighting it.
    • Allow the melted wax to harden before lighting the candle again.
    • Each candle is handmade and the ingredients may vary. Due to the composition of natural ingredients, the wax may acquire different shades, and due to temperature changes, transportation conditions, air gaps and cracks may appear - this is natural. Also due to the created air media, an uneven distribution of the wax may occur.
